you gotta love how 2,000 Frames Per Second allows you to all the tiny details of life and process them in "real time" -- and all of a sudden, dudes on BMX bikes make art...
sometimes i know a band is good but it takes me a long time to pay attention to them. usually it takes one balls-awesome song to slap me across the face, get repeated a hundred times, and get me into the album. this is one of those bands and one of those songs. especially around minute 5...it builds up into such power...mmm... ENJOY.
i'm not in love with the vocals that follow (evanescence anyone? ugh) but i could listen to the first 30 seconds on repeat for a looooooong time. (i'm sure i'll be fully enamored soon enough. usually it just takes a little love some time to grow.)
* EDIT *
THANKS TO MY BROTHER WE HAVE THIS:
(a trailer edit with NO VOCALS! yay!)
Back in 2005 I heard a band called Veda play a show - they were the opener for someone else (I don't even remember who anymore) and they blew me away. The largeness of the sound and the complex interaction of the vocals with the guitar and drums...wow. I bought the CD (a big deal for poor college me) and fell in love with it. Weight of an Empty Room.
Well, one of their songs popped into my head today. So I did a little research and found out they have changed from Veda to Vedera and from impressive vocal rock to an almost country sounding pop. Tragic.
To honor the old album and old sound, here are a few old performances of songs I still love. (I will dig out the CD when I get home and sing along all afternoon I think)
i watched this WEIRD video forever ago but somehow i think i forgot to post it on here...
this song is AMAZING. i listened to it, and the rest of the album, as i drove through flaming gorge and the desert beyond that on my way to vegas this last weekend - and it was pretty epic. it sorta reminds me of everything i love about the sound of music from the 80s and 90s but also still sounds modern and very 2010 to me... anyways... enjoy!
i've liked them awhile, but i had the opportunity this weekend to listen to them for nearly 5 hours straight, and now i LOVE them. (i suppose it could've gone another way...glad it went this way.)
Watch, Listen, Tell is a discovery I made thanks to Jenny. There are soooooooo many great artists to check out here! I think this kind of site almost (ALMOST) makes me & my blog obsolete! ;)
“The video channel focuses on creating the best looking and sounding videos with up and coming artists and musicians. The idea is to give you, the viewer, an intimate and unique look at new bands. Stripping everything back, getting closer to the musicians. It’s all about the music.”
matt gave me the album "brothers" and the first time i listened to it, i didn't really like it. i guess the timing wasn't right, because i am completely obsessed with it now.
i love old black and white movies.
i think clark gable is just great.
i definitely recommend that you rent/buy/netflix this very clever movie
(p.s. i don't think this trailer does it justice...)
